The Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA) is excited to announce the appointment of Iris Bruton as its new Executive Director. Bruton brings a wealth of experience in event management, community building, and nonprofit leadership following a successful tenure at Mayfest, Inc. and a distinguished career dedicated to public service and event growth.
"After an extensive search, we are super excited to have Iris joining the TFEA as the new executive director," said Jenny Carattini-Wright, Texas Festivals and Events Board of Directors Chair. "Her knowledge and experience will lead the organization into the future."
With more than 15 years of industry experience, Bruton has overseen large-scale events and spearheaded initiatives that have strengthened communities across Texas. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of Mayfest, Inc., where she successfully managed one of the largest festivals in Fort Worth, bringing together over 150,000 attendees annually. During her time there, she led efforts that significantly increased revenue for vendors, secured prestigious awards, and established lasting partnerships with key stakeholders.
"I am committed to serving our members, partners, and the entire festival and events community by fostering collaboration, listening to diverse voices, and building on the strong foundation that has been estabilished," said Bruton. "Together, we will continue to grow and elevate this association to new heights."
In addition to her leadership at Mayfest, Bruton has held various roles in nonprofit management, public relations, and program development, including working with organizations like Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County and the University of Texas at Arlington. She is recognized for her ability to cultivate partnerships, increase return on investment for event stakeholders, and foster meaningful connections between communities and events.
Bruton will succeed Kay Wolf, CFEE, who announced her retirement earlier this year after serving as TFEA’s Executive Director since 2016. Under Wolf’s leadership, TFEA has grown significantly and launched initiatives such as the Texas Event Management Institute (TEMI), which has become a cornerstone of professional development for event organizers throughout the state. Wolf will continue to serve the association through the 2024 Conference and Trade Show in San Antonio. Please join us in celebrating and thanking Kay for her unwavering committment to both the Texas and International Festival and Events industry and community.
The Texas Festivals and Events Association is dedicated to advancing the growth of Texas’ festivals and events industry by providing resources, education, and networking opportunities for professionals in the field. As the organization moves forward under Bruton’s leadership, TFEA remains dedicated to supporting its members and elevating the quality of events across the state.
